Pan, a project created in collaboration with the Chicago-based nonprofit organization and cultural production company Project&, brings together the forces of a solo flutist with an all-ages community of music-makers who join the flutist onstage for an immersive, unforgettable experience that melds music, movement, text, and Greek tragedy. Composed by Marcos Balter and directed by Douglas Fitch, with sound design by Levy Lorenzo and light design by Nick Houfek, and with the collaborative partnership of Jane M. Saks and Project&, Pan premiered at The Kitchen in New York City in March 2018, featuring 65 performers from all over the city. Pan was re-mounted in Chicago in October 2018 at Garfield Park Conservatory’s historic Field House Dome in collaboration with young musicians from People’s Music School of Chicago and the Chicago West Side Community Music Center.
